Castlebar Men's Shed Going from Strength to Strength.

Castlebar Men's Shed is going from strength to strength. Since the first meeting in Le Cheile Family Resource centre on April 2nd of this year interest in the project has continued to grow. Men of all ages from the local community are gathering together eager to get involved in current and upcoming projects. Last Monday night saw the start of Computer Classes where men from the shed, with the support of Le Cheile are partaking in a six week programme designed to cater for the individual needs of those involved under the tuition of Ronan O Malley, one of the Shed's youngest members and Martina Jordan from the FRC.

Other upcoming projects include Community Gardening, Chess and Fieldtrips. Last Wednesday night saw members lend their support to The Men On The Move initative as they volunteered as stewards at the final phase of the project at Lough Lannagh.

Castlebar Men's Shed would like to thank Le Cheile FRC and the HSE for their continued support. They would also like to acknowledge the support they have received from Castlebar Town Council and local businesses including Elvery's Sport. This continued support from the community will enable the shed to serve the men of our town.

With all this good will Castlebar Men's Shed is still in need of one vital component to fully succeed in its aim to promote and protect the well-being of the men in our community. In short they need a home, a permanent space to work from. The committee is working endlessly, searching for a appropriate space, an industrial type unit but has had no success in doing so to date. Surely a town like Castlebar should be able to provide a project like this with a premises, a base. The committee of the Shed would be open to talking to any individual or group that feel they might be able to help with this. Castlebar has many empty buildings that have remained idle for sometime now. It would be wonderful to see just one of these put to good use for the benefit of many.

Castlebar Men's Shed look forward to a bright and busy future.
