River Moy
Fresh grilse continue to enter the system daily, with all fisheries now producing good fishing on the Moy. The weekly catch for the system jumped considerably, with well over 400 salmon recorded. The Moy Fishery yielded ten salmon over the week, including a grilse each for Malcolm Cooper, U.K., William Miller and George Emerson, both N.Ireland. John McKinley had one off the Weir Pool on a worm while on the Cathedral Beat John McKinley, N.Ireland, released one caught on fly. There were also catches recorded on the Spring Wells and the Point beats.

The Ballina Salmon Anglers' water fished very well, with fresh run grilse arriving on each tide the fishery accounted for almost 100 salmon for the week. Mount Falcon, the Attymass and Knockmore waters, Coolcronan, Byrne's, Armstrong's and Gannon's all enjoyed a successful week, with each reporting numerous catches. At Coolcronan, Bob Bell, U.K., had one of 8lbs on a spinner, with Harold Retech, Germany, also landing one of 5lbs on spinner. Upstream at Armstrong's, Emily Bruen, Germany, landed a nice fish of 10lbs on worm.

The Foxford Fishery and The Foxford Rocks Fishery also recorded catches for the week, while Rinanney produced some very good sport for anglers. The Foxford Town and Foxford Salmon Anglers' waters also had a good week, while at the Cloongee Fishery, over 40 catches were recorded. Among those to have success at Cloongee were regular French visitors Beatrice Valaize, with one of 9lbs on spinner, Pascal Coulon, who also had one of 9lbs on bubble and fly, Ludovic Coulon caught one of 8 lbs on spinner, while Thierry Colum landed a fine fish of 15.5lbs on spinner.

The East Mayo Anglers' Association water once again enjoyed a very productive week, where over 60 salmon were recorded. Fish have been caught using all methods, with fresh run grilse moving upstream in all water condition. At East Mayo, John Lefere, France, landed a grilse of 5lbs while spinning, Reto Coutalides, Switzerland, had one of 4lbs on fly, Michael Rouston, N. Ireland, landed one of 6lbs on fly while Alain Lenaff, France had two grilse spinning.

Ballisodare Fishery
Monday the 8th June produced eight fish at Ballisodare, three of which were released. A fine fish of 15lbs was taken on the fly by Tom Corcoran. Other fish caught were in the range of 3lbs to 6lbs. Among the other anglers to score were Thomas O'Donovan, Noel Rooney, D. Norwood, Isabella Norwood. The following day 14 salmon were caught, seven of those released. Fish ranged in size from of 3lbs to 6lbs, most of which were caught on the prawn. Successful anglers were Stephanie Cassols, Dermot Glennon, T. McKeon, A. McKeon, Michael Wymes, Vincent Henry and John Connolly.

Anglers faired much better on Wednesday when 25 fish were landed, 12 of which were released. Anglers who enjoyed success were Pat Forkan, S. Brogan, Eamonn Ruddy, Pat O'Sullivan, Kevin Reynolds, Paul Colreavy, Peter Henry, Eugene Farrell, O. Farrell, John Connolly, Denis Crawley, F. Kerins, Dermot Glennon, John Murray, James Cuffe and Michael O'Kane. All fish were in the range of 3lbs to 8lbs with the majority caught on fly and prawn.

Thursday produced 30 salmon, again ranging from 3lbs to 6lbs with the fly and prawn proving the most successful methods. James Kennedy, Michael Wymes, Bernard Keegan, K. Scelley, M. Filgerton, B. Cullen, P. Scallan, Frank Adams, Stephen Moore, John Connolly, Paul Colreavy, Paddy Marron, Dermot Glennon and Thomas O'Donovan were among the successful anglers on the day. A similar day was had on Friday, when 32 were landed, again mostly on fly and prawn, with the average size being 5-6lbs.

Saturday was another good day at Ballisodare for anglers, with 27 salmon caught. A few of these were taken on the worm but the majority again fell to the fly and the prawn. Fish averaged 5lbs in weight with a few smaller also recorded. Sunday produced a similar amount of fish to Saturday, with 30 recorded. The average size of fish was 4-5lbs, Anthony McCann however, did manage to land a fine 12lbs springer on the fly.

Lough Beltra
A quieter week on Beltra in comparison to previous weeks, however, fresh fish continue to be caught. Pedar Jennings scored with a fresh grilse of 5lbs from the Boathouse, while the following day James Burns boated a fresh 6lbs fish at Morrison's and turned several more. Dave Malpas also landed a 4lbs grilse on an Octopus in front of the Boathouse with Martin McCoy landing a fine 10lbs salmon, also at the Boathouse.

Sea Angling

Killala Bay
On Saturday, 15th June, a party of anglers from Counties Dublin and Kildare and England set out from Killala Harbour at 10am to fish Killala Bay on board the Leah. Fishing was slow to begin with but steady, with many pollack caught and released. Coalfish were the next species to surface, with the best weighing around 4lbs. Mackerel were scarce with only approximately four dozen caught on the day. A number of pouting were also caught as were a couple of nice ling, with the best weighing around 8lbs.
