Little to report on the angling front this week I'm afraid, just one report below from a local pike angling guide and details of an upcoming pike angling competition in Bilberry Lake, Castlebar.

A reminder once again to all game anglers who had purchased a 2013 Salmon Angling Licence. In accordance with the Wild Salmon and Sea Trout Tagging Regulations, anglers are required by law to return the completed logbook and remaining tags to the issuing office of IFI by the 19th October 2013, even if no catch is recorded. A business reply envelope is provided with the licence for this purpose.

Bilberry and Lannagh Angling Club are hosting a pike angling competition on Bilberry Lake Co. Mayo on Sunday, 20th October. The competition is open to all with registration costing €10 for club members and €20 for non-members. Registration at the Bilberry Shore before 11am with competition running from 11am to 6pm. Contact Jimmy Henaghan on 087 2319259 for further information or to register.

Pike angling Guide Kenny Sloan provided us with this tale of a recent pike fishing trip in the lakes in the Foxford area...

Galway ladies Kate Rodgers and Thresa Rodgers enjoyed a day out pike fishing recently with guide Kenny Sloan, fishing the lakes of the Foxford area. Although conditions were not great they still managed to catch several pike using lures and dead bait. Best lure proved to be the Salmo Slider Sinking, in silver. Kate caught two pike on her first time fishing, she is now truly hooked. For guided pike angling in the Foxford area, contact Kenny Sloan on +353 (0)949256501 or +353 (0)879670310.
