Despite the poor conditions many participants enjoyed excellent sport throughout the day, with the winning team of Michael Dunleavy and Tony Lally, landing a total of seven varieties. Second place was won by Sylvy Sweeney and Kevin Walsh, who totalled 5 varieties, while third place was taken by Michael Varley and Padraic Forde, with 4 varieties. The captor of the heaviest fish of the day was Tony Lally, who landed a pollack of 4.8lbs.Varieties caught included coalfish, pollack, ballan wrasse, conger eel, dogfish and flounder.

Angling guide Kenny Sloan reported on a recent pike fishing expedition with visiting anglers from Germany, Joachim Kasper and Marlow Kaiser, in the Foxford area. Weather conditions were far from ideal for the visitors, and with a strong wind blowing, boat fishing was not possible for much of the day. However young Marlow Kaiser was delighted when he managed to catch his first ever pike, followed by his second, measuring 86cms and 74cms in length. Sink and draw and float fished roach accounted for Marlow's two pike.
