Adults & Children Over 7
Join Dr Prannie Rhatigan as she identifies and gives an overview of the traditional uses of seaweed on Irish shores.

Become an Explorer. Get your Compass!
Be an explorer, learn how to read and make your own maps. Discover more about the natural and built environment around you through a range of activities including orienteering and treasure hunts.  Age 8-13years. Club start date 7th March. Join us to have fun and learn new skills. The Saturday Club is free and all materials are provided. Each Club is limited to 15. Location. Education Room.

 

SEACHTAIN NA GAEILGE: 10 – 17 Márta 2009
Ceiliúrann Ard-Mhúsaem na hÉireann Seachtain na Gaeilge,
le réimse imeachtaí trí Ghaeilge- turais agus imeachtaí ceoil san áireamh. Tá Bileoga Gníomhaíochta trí Ghaeilge ar fáil chomh maith.  Beidh formhór na n-imeachtaí dátheangach.
 
The National Museum of Ireland celebrates Seachtain na Gaeilge, with a range of events through Irish, including tours and music. Irish language Activity Sheets are also available. Most events are bi-lingual.
 
Turais stiúraithe i nGaeilge
Ar fáil ón Máirt 10 go dé hAoine an 13 Márta ag 14.00 uair.

Guided tours in Irish
Available from Tuesday 10 to Friday 13 at 2.00pm.

Places are limited to 20. Tours in Irish will also be available throughout the week for groups. Pre-booking is essential.

Seisiún. Ceol Tradisiúnta.
Tar isteach do sheisiún ceoil le Emer Maycock agus a cáirde chun Seachtain na Gaeilge agus teacht na Féile Pádraig a cheiliúradh.

Performance. Traditional Irish Music.

Join Emer Mayock and guests for a musical performance to celebrate Seachtain na Gaeilge and the coming of St. Patrick’s Day.

Friday 20 March: 11.00am – 1.00pm. Drop in Event. The Knitting Circle. Adults & Children Over 7.
Exchange patterns, learn new techniques, bring along your knitting and join in.

Thursday 26 March: 4.00pm – 5.00pm. Junior Event. Clay Weaving Workshop.
Children Under 6 Accompanied by an Adult.
Learn about the different types of baskets in the museum’s handling collection and weave a basket from clay with Tommy Casby.
Location. Education Room.

Saturday 28 March: 11.00am – 4.00pm. Drop In Event. Connaught Textile Crafters-Creative Embroidery. All Ages.
Come alone to meet the group or join them for the day by bringing your own knitting, crochet, felting etc.
Location. Education Room.

Sunday 29 March: 2.30pm – 3.30pm. Sunday Event. Tinsmith Demonstration. All Ages.
Join local tinsmith Terry Maughan and watch him turn scraps of metal into useful working items.
Location. Marquee Museum Grounds

Wednesday 1 April: 3.30pm – 4.30pm. April Fools Day. Fact or Fiction Tour. Adults & Children Over 7.
Guess what is fact and what is fiction on this special tour with Education Assistants Brendan McDonnell and Tom Doyle.
