Tour. Saints, Patrons & Patterns

After All Souls Day learn about the lives, legends and legacies of Irelands holy men and women and get a chance to view the Moylough Belt Shrine with Aoife O’Toole

Wednesday 12 November: 11.30am & 2.00pm  
Talk & Workshop. Traditional Natural Dyeing
Join June Bourke as she uses natural materials to create colours for dyeing wool and cloth.

Workshop. Nature Activities for Children 1st & 2nd Class
Learn about Irish wildlife through games and role-playing.  Science, History & Geography

Friday 19th of December. 11.30am.

Workshop. Get Ready for Christmas 1st to 6th Class

Make your own Christmas decorations, cards and more in our festive workshops.

Come on a ‘science’ tour and find out how and why the buildings and exhibition cases are designed to protect the museum objects.  Science & History: Junior & senior cycle

Interactive Performance. Living History
History: Junior Cycle
Join Michael Moylan of ‘Irish History live’ to experience living in the past ans everyday life in Ireland around the 1900’s. Try on the clothes, find out about the food and much more. Location. Education Room.

Storytelling Workshop. Developing Voice

Clare Muireann Murphy and Rab Swannock Fulton, Galway's acclaimed storytellers, lead these workshops on how to develop your own innate storytelling ability.  Through games, discussion and performance the workshop develops confidence, self expression, critical thinking, creativity and imagination as well as storytelling style.  English: Transition year.

Schools Competition: Extraordinary Ordinary People (now closed)
Celebrate your community's extraordinary ordinary people.
The National Museum of Ireland – Country Life is inviting primary and post primary students to nominate the most extraordinary person in your area.

· Upper Primary 4th to 6th Class
· Junior Cert 1st to 3rd Year

We would like to find out from you something about a person from your area who has made an important contribution to your community between the years 1850–2000. Before you decide on someone, we would like you to talk to older members of your family or older people in your locality to find out their ideas.
