Irish Amateur Boxing preparation for the world Cadet Championships returns to Mayo. This week the Irish Cadet Team are preparing for their World Championships challenge in St. Ann's boxing club gymnasium, Westport. The full team from Lt.Fly to Heavyweight are working on a 3 session each day programme under coaches Colman Flartey and Pa Murray and team Manager Jim Murran. The great facilities at the Westport Gym played a major in the success of the Irish Senior Team's success in outscoring the teams from England, Scotland and Wales in the 4 Nation Championship in Killarney. Now the Irish Cadet team are having the same top class preparation for the World Championships In Hungary later this month. The facilities in Westport backed up with the great support and care the teams have received at the Castlecourt Hotel Westport has been responsible for the Irish Amateur Association for centering all their training camps at the Westport venue for the rest of the season.

The senior team returns to Westport for next month's training camp to prepare for the Boxam Championships in Tenerife and the Acropolis Cup in Athens in early June.

Peter Mullen and the coaches at St. Ann's Club are ensuring that our Irish boxing teams are getting the best support in Westport for the Irish Boxers retain the position of Irelands leading Olympic sport.

The Irish Sports Council are fully supportive of the Irish Teams training camp approach.
