Castlebar Firm Appoints New Manager

Pamex Limited the Castlebar based company which specialises is the marketing and promotion of niche pharmaceutical products, has announced the appointment of Mr. Diarmuid Gavin as its new General Manager.

The Tourmakeady born native has spent the past eight years as Sales Manager for international pharmaceutical company GlaxoSmithKline and his departure from a senior position in a major multinational pharmaceutical company to a Mayo based niche player in the pharmaceutical sector, is according to Mr. Gavin " a tremendous challenge and opportunity. I am really looking forward to contributing positively to the growth of Pamex over the next number of years and building on the progress made by my predecessor. When one considers that such a small company like Pamex has over fifty products in its portfolio, with a turnover of over two million euro, the potential for growth is enormous, but must be worked on. I am really excited about working with Tom and Mary Murphy in such a small but truly dynamic company."

For the past number of years Castlebar native Ms. Fionnuala Bourke was Pamex Sales Manager, and she has decided to leave her position in order to devote more time to her family. Said Tom Murphy, Pamex Managing Director, "we were delighted with the overall contribution Fionnuala made to our business, in terms of sales and turnover and her dedicated commitment to the company over the past six years. She helped bring our company to a new commercial level and we are truly appreciative of that achievement"

Having started in 1995 from being on the dole for the previous nine months as a result of redundancy, Tom Murphy has remained true to his roots by establishing his business in Castlebar. Pamex is probably best known for it’s 100% natural shaving oil called Total Shaving Solution, which is manufactured by Cosmetic Creations in Claremorris, packed by the energetic staff at Rehab in Castlebar, stored at Kog Logistics also in Castlebar and sold in many countries throughout the world.

However, another side to the business is the eye care and dental portfolio of products which contribute handsomely to the bottom line, according to Murphy.With more national product launches being prepared for the coming months, Murphy says now that Diarmuid Gavin is in place, he himself can concentrate on his "mission to shave the world", and with his commitment and dynamism, no doubt he will succeed.
