Best of luck to our senior team who start their championship next Sunday when the county champions  Ballyhaunis come to town for an intriguing first round tie which pits the experience of Ballyhaunis against the youth of  Castlebar Mitchels. Good wishes to Mark, John and the team. This is the youngest team ever to play senior hurling for Castlebar  Mitchels. Probably for the first time too in a long time this will be made up of entirely  local born and bred Castlebar men. This is another sign that our long-term coaching strategy is finally beginning to bear fruit. So come along next Sunday and support your local Mitchels hurling team it's your  team too.

The club was represented at the Suck Valley League awards on Saturday night last in Ballinasloe when Joseph Redmond from the under 16 team and Christy Walsh from the minor team were presented with helmets in recognition of their man of the match performances in the respective finals. And to cap a great night Castlebar Mitchels were presented with the best club award. Well done to all concerned.

Our annual lotto was launched last Friday night many thanks to all who sold tickets and to Mick Byrne for hosting the event
