Hurling Skills Results

After an absence of many years from the Mayo Hurling Calendar, the Mayo U12 and U0 hurling skills competitions were held in Bofeenaun Community Pitch on Mon 3 May.  Even though the weather was not very friendly, the skill level on view was very high, with twelve competitors taking part in the U12 competition and ten hurlers competing in the U10s

After nine rounds of skill, it was Nicholas Quinn representing Castlebar Mitchels Hurling club who took the u12 title while the u10 title had joint winners in David Kenny (Tooreen)_ and Ronan Byrne Castlebar Mitchels both finishing on 86%.

After the competition Adrian Hession, the Skills Competition Coordinator complimented all the competitors for their display of skill and thanked the Addergoole Hurling Club for the sue of their fine new hurling field in Bofeenaun.  He also had a special word of thanks for all the coaches and parents for their help in the running the competitions

U16s

The U16s had a tremendous game last week and against the mighty Tooreen came away with a most creditable draw.  But for the narrowest of margins they could have snatched a win but at least all be able to replay again this evening.  Given that these teams met at U14 two years ago and Tooreen then came out with a large winning margin, shows the progress that has been made in Castlebar.  Keep up the good work lads.

Hurling on the Green

The Easter hurling on the green was an outstanding success.  So much so that names are already coming in the Summer season which commences on Mon Jun 28 and will run for nine weeks until Aug 27.  This is a tremendous opportunity for young to have the benefit of excellent coaching during the summer months in fact it is better that a summer camp because it is free to members and comes to a green patch near you.  Remember you have got to be a member and registration is still available
