Firsts

The firsts were in action against Monivea on Saturday and despite a brilliant performance had to give second best to the Galway side.

The Castlebar Team were: Paul Coady, Mike Power, Darin Claasen, Jason Keane, Nigel Byrne, Robert Cusack, Christy Cusack, Alex Goor, Paddy Durcan, Brian Flannery, Ruairi Hughes, Damian Glackin, Enda Murphy, Mike Campbell, Ger Prendergast

Replacements: Alan Gavin, Ciaran Flynn, and Paul Heverin

Next Sunday is a very important day for Castlebar RFC’s First team as they face OLBC in the Sportsground in the first round proper of the Connacht Junior Cup. A win here is the all important as defeat will spell the end of the season. If you can at all, please come out to Galway on Sunday and give your support. Should we win on Sunday, then the chance of a good run in the cup is there. Game kicks off at 3pm

Seconds

The Seconds are having an excellent season and we hope that the same will happen again with the Ard Na Cregg that begins on Sunday in Cloondeash against Corinthians. After the unbeaten run in the Mayo seconds league and home advantage for the semi final, hopes are high of a great run in this competition. The game kicks off at 2.30 and it is hopeful that a good crown will come out and support the seconds.

Under 18

The under 18 team were action over the weekend against Ballinrobe who came out on top 24-17. It was a very busy weekend as they came, they saw, they conquered with a very successful tour of Scotland in which they faced Dunfermline. Special congratulations must go to the coaches for a job well done.

Mini Rugby

The Castlebar under 8 and under 12 teams head to Ballinrobe for a blitz on Saturday. The bus leaves the courthouse at 10am. There is training for all other teams at the pitch at 11.

Dress Dance

Due to a clash of dates, the Dress Dance has now been moved back a week to Friday 28th April, in the clubhouse.

Lotto:

There was no winner of the jackpot so it will now be 7,100 euro. The numbers drawn were 1, 3, 7 and 8. Six people matched three. They were K Armstrong, N Rock, A Gilchrist, M Kilbane, J Burke and P Bourke. Congratulations to all of them. They will receive 17 euro each.

Greg Barry’s team are on duty next month at a venue to be confirmed. Players are asked to return their tickets as soon as possible.
