Mini Rugby News

The mini blitz in Ballina went ahead on Saturday for the under 7, 8’s and 9’s while Castlebar hosted the under 10, 11 and 12 teams. all teams had a good day despite the terrible weather conditions but full credit must go to everybody who braved the elements. Next weekend is the last training before Christmas with prizes, fun games and refreshments served afterwards. Parents as always are asked to come out and take part in the Christmas festivities. Training will resume on Saturday the fifth of January with a blitz in Carraroe the following Saturday.

Under 13

The U13 game against Ballina was called off on Saturday.  Castlebar U13 play Sligo at home on Saturday in the final game of the year. Text alerts will be sent out later in the week.

Under 14

Training continues on Wednesday night and there is a game scheduled for the 29th of December against Dunmore in Dunmore. Players will be informed at training.

Under 16

There was no match at the weekend due to the weather. Training continues on Wednesday night. players will be notified of a weekend game at training.

Under 20’s

There was no game last weekend for the under 20’s side but training continues as usual. All players contact Chris Rogan immediately for details. New players welcome.

Firsts

It was a tough one on Sunday last but the firsts secured our position in division one with a hard fought draw against Tuam at Garraun Park. Castlebar’s tries coming from Alan Gavin and Nigel Byrne. Now a welcome break until January 5th and the clash with Westport in the AIB Junior cup.

The scheduled rematch between Castlebar and Westport will now be played as a double header with the AIB All Ireland Junior Cup clash on January the 5th with Cloondeash Castlebar the Venue. Kick off 2.30pm.

Seconds

Training Continues for all seconds players on Tuesday and Friday nights. Still no luck with a game as Creggs was washed out. Keep an eye on local media for a refixture but now unlikely until after Christmas.

Special notice:

The coaches annual night out takes place next Saturday night in Bar one starting at 9pm. All coaches/committee members are welcome to come along.

International Tickets

Anyone interested in going to the Six Nations home games at Croke Park against Italy, Wales or Scotland must note that tickets will only be sold in blocks of three.
