Castlebar U-18's do down to Westport
A very much under strength Castlebar side had to settle for second best against a strong Westport side.  Westport went two tries ahead within the first 10 minutes of the game and  things looked ominous for the home side.  Castlebar forwards upped the tempo and spent a full twenty minutes in the Westport 22 in the later half of the first half.  Unfortunately Westport cleared their lines without Castlebar registering a score despite the best efforts of Ross Flynn and David Casey.
Castlebar did manage to cross the Westport line in the second half with Ross Flynn touching down from a tap penalty.  Westport took hold of the game from there with Castlebar down to 13 men after losing two players to injury, and ran out comfortable winners in the end.

Castlebar: Ross Flynn, Conor Walsh (capt), Alan Regan, Brian Kiernan, Kevin Glynn, David Casey, Cian O’Sullivan, Shane Casey, Luke Staunton, Steven Rogan, Emmet Gill, Niall O’Byrne, David Monaghan, Ronan Byrne, Sean Brizay, Ryan Sheridan, Michael Moran.

Under 20’s

Firsts

Last Sunday the first team banished any thoughts of an inferior complex when they out played and out thought Monivea in the semi final of the District league. winning by twenty points to eight. Castlebar’s tries coming from Danny McGing, Ger Prendegast and Tadgh Kirby. Robbie Cusack kicking the remainder of the points. The performances of the younger players gets more impressive with every game and must be seen to be believed. But next up the serious matter of the league gets underway with a visit to Dubarry Park and Buccaneers. A good performance here would be the ideal start to the league and with the new format every game is vital. Kick off is set for 2.30 but could change. Players will be notified at training.

Castlebar: Eugene Butterworth, Paddy Durcan, Kevin Cox, Ruairi Hughes (capt), Alex Goor, Enda Murphy, Paddy Flannelly, Ger Prendegast, Christy Cusack, Robbie Cusack, Simon O’Malley, Nigel Byrne, Tadgh Kirby, Ciaran Flynn, Danny McGing.
