Mini Rugby News

There is action a plenty this weekend with games at all levels. On Saturday next Castlebar’s under 7’s, 8’s, 9’s, 10’s, 11’s and 12 teams face Westport, Ballina and Sligo in the first blitz of the season. players are asked to be at the ground at 10.30am. any parents interested in coming out and supporting the stars of the future are very welcome indeed and will not be disappointed.

Under 13

The under 13 team are away to Westport on Saturday afternoon for their first game of the season. this plans to be a cracking game as both teams had excellent seasons at under 12 last season so a close encounter is expected. Players are asked to be at the Library at 9.30am. Parents should know that the team bus will be back in Castlebar at 1pm.

Under 16

The Under 16 team get their season underway next weekend at home against Loughrea. No time has been confirmed as yet but players will be notified at training. Please Contact Simon O’Malley for more details.

Under 18

The under 18 side got their season underway last weekend with a clash against Galwegians and while the Lads gave it their best shot, they had to give second best to a talented Galway side who were simply brilliant in the backs.

 

 

 

 

This weekend the team travel to Clane for the weekend and players will be notified of details at training on Wednesday night.

Under 20’s

Last Saturday’s under 20 tie against Sligo was called off due to players involvement with the first team. all under 20 players available are asked to be at training on the same nights as the first team. I.E Tuesday and Friday nights at 8pm.

Firsts

 

 

 

 

The First team travelled to Cavan on Saturday for the Bourke cup and came away with a very solid 25-5 win. Next up is the clash in the District League with old rivals Westport which takes place tomorrow (Wednesday) kicking off at 7.30pm. Cloondeash is the venue and everyone is invited to come out for the first really big game of the season.

Alone it stands returns to Castlebar

The wonderful John Breen play "Alone it Stands" which tells the story of the original Miracle match in which Munster beat the mighty All Blacks returns to the TF Royal Hotel and theatre for two nights on next Monday October 8th & Tuesday October 9th. This hilarious and poignant play tells the story of one of the greatest games in irish rugby history from the perspective of the players, the families and the fans and is rated as one of the finest plays ever to come out of Ireland.
