Firsts

The Firsts travelled to the Sportsground on Sunday last for a game that has provided a slippery one in the past against OLBC. However it was not the case this time as they overcame the city side by 27 points to 12. The tries coming from Paul Coady who scored two, Ian Placey, Darren Claasen and Mike Power. Paul Coady added one conversion. This puts Castlebar into second place at the Christmas interval just one point behind Westport and two clear of Monivea. It is certainly all to play for.

Team: Rayno DeKock, Paddy Durcan, Kevin Cox, Alex Goor, Paul Heverin, Ben Cockrell, Tony Nutze, Ger Prendegast. Ian Placey, Darren Claasen, Tadgh Kirby, Enda Murphy, Mike Power, James McGovern, Paul Coady.

Replacements: Gavin for DeKock, Devaney for Cockrell, and Roddy for Coady.

The firsts have one more game before the winter break with an away trip to Loughrea in the Cawley cup. Kick off is at 2.30.
