Firsts News

Severe disappointment was the order of the day when Loughrea beat the firsts in the quarter final of the Cawley cup. Suffering from a severe injury crisis in which six for the first choice forwards are now out and Despite going ahead to two penalties from Robbie Cusack and an excellent Mike Power try, they conceded two tries in the final two minutes to lose the game. There will be no time to think about it as they now face Ballinrobe next Sunday in the League. It was disappointing that there was such a low turnout of support there on Sunday and everyone is asked to get out to Cloondeash on Sunday for this game. Kick Off is 2.30.

Seconds News

The Seconds have received no news of the league, but there will be challenge games over the next couple of weeks. Also it is now more important than ever for seconds’ players to get out training due to the Injury crisis that has affected the firsts. Training continues as usual on Thursday night.

Ladies news

The Ladies are back in training and are asked to attend on Wednesday night at the usual time. There is also news on Their forthcoming Fashion show that will take place on the 18th of next month in the Failte suite of the Welcome Inn Hotel.

Mini Rugby

Sadly, the weather beat us over the weekend when the proposed blitz in Monivea had to be called off as was training. But Training will resume next weekend at the usual time.

Under 14

The under 14 team were due to play Ballina at the weekend. However the weather beat us again. Training continues for all underage players at the usual time on Wednesday night.

All training for under 14, 16 and under 18 teams resume this Wednesday at the usual time

Lotto

There was no winner of the draw that took part on St Stephen's day, which means that the jackpot is now a very nice 3,400 euro! There was one match 3 winner who was Miriam Swift from Gallows Hill Castlebar. The next draw takes place at our Live at the Club night that takes place on January the 30th in the clubhouse. All ticket sellers are asked to do their selling on the previous Friday night.

Castlebar Ladies RFC Fashion show

Castlebar RFC Ladies are holding a fashion show in the Fáilte Suite of the Welcome Inn Hotel on Wednesday 18th of February. This will be an excellent night with plenty to entertain and maybe get some of you tempted to buy the wonderful clothes on display. And I am talking about the lads!!! More details on that next week.

Are you interested in playing rugby but thought that you lived too far from Castlebar? Well if you live outside of the Castlebar town area but are interested, then Castlebar RFC would like to hear from you. Training takes place for all mini rugby players on Saturday Mornings at 11am and there is training for all under 14, under 16 and under 18 players on Wednesday night at 7pm. We have best coaches around, all IRFU trained and approved and you become part of one of the fastest growing clubs in Connacht. If you are interested you can contact Castlebar RFC in Cloondeash and buses can be arranged if we have enough numbers making it easier on parents and taking the hassle out of attending training and games, so come on…,WHAT are you waiting for??
