CASTLEBAR RFC NEWS

Firsts

The firsts were in action on Thursday night at Cloondeash when they hosted Corrib in a pre season friendly. This was going to be important, as Corrib will go into the Connacht junior league full of confidence with a solid team preparing for next season. Castlebar though were in outstanding form with Paul Coady kicking well and tries from Christy Cusack, Coady and a wonder score from Enda Murphy after Castlebar ran the ball from behind their own line with Mike Power producing a tackle breaking run to set up Murphy who still had to make the best part of seventy yards before touching town under the posts. It was a wonderful display in good conditions and Castlebar can take great pride in the display of their younger players who have come along in leaps and bounds over the summer. A special well done to Tadgh and Enda.

The team are away this weekend and training continues at the usual times.

Underage news

Castlebar’s Mini rugby will resume on the 2nd of October for all under 7,8,9 and 10 players. However the club have received some good news with the under 11 and 12 teams being invited for this years National Blitz on the same day. Training for this competition will begin on Saturday the 18th of September and all players are asked to attend. It is a very special occasion as there are only four clubs from Connacht invited to this Blitz and Connacht is one of those.
