Firsts

Firsts played UCG on Sunday last desperate to get the season back on course after the disappointing defeat to Ballinrobe a week earlier. This they did in some style with a solid win against the disappointing students. Tries from Darren Claasen who scored a hat trick, Tadgh Kirby, Enda Murphy and Paul Coady gave us the win and the Bonus points. Robbie Cusack kicked the rest of the points to keep us on top of the junior league just one point ahead of Westport. Next Sunday is a rest day but there are plans in place for a friendly on Sunday. Players will be informed in training.

Team: Alan Gavin, Paddy Durcan, Matt Connolly, Sheanus Devaney, Paul Heverin, Alex Goor, Mick Campbell, Enda Murphy, Christy Cusack, Robbie Cusack, Mike Power, Darren Classen, Tadgh Kirby, Paddy Flannelly, Paul Coady

Replacements: Kevin Goor, Ger Prendegast.

Tries: Darren Claasen (3), Tadgh Kirby, Enda Murphy, and Paul Coady

Conversions: Robbie Cusack (5)

Penalties: Robbie Cusack (1)

Sunday week is a very important game for the club with Buccaneers the visitors to Cloondeash. Should the firsts win that they are then in a very strong position with the Monivea game the following week and the all important clash with Westport in March. Every Club member is asked to come out and support and bring as many as possible to cheer on the lads. More on this next week.

Ladies

The ladies are continuing to train ahead of the beginning of their own season that will begin shortly. Training has changed to Wednesday evenings. All players are asked to be at the courthouse at 6.30. Contact Nicola for more information. All new players are welcome.

Underage news

The under 18 team had a busy couple of weeks with two games. Last Sunday they faced Gort but had to give second best in a game that we should have won. The week before they defeated Ballinrobe 12-5 in an incredible display of running determined rugby. This is a talented team who will go far and members are asked to keep an eye on the Bulletin for more news on this great side.

Mini rugby News

Next Saturday the under 8,9,10,11 and 12 players are in action in Cloondeash as we welcome Galwegians to Cloondeash. All players are asked to be at the clubhouse at 10.30am and all parents are welcome to come out and cheer on the lads. The games get under way at 11am and it is hoped to have the games completed by 1pm. Refreshments will be served on the day.
