Ever since last year’s league defeat the team have been working hard to correct the wrongs of last year and the eyes of the province will be on those eighty minutes of rugby kicking off at 2.30. Should Castlebar win they would remain on top with just a couple of games remaining. One of those against Westport at home. The draw for the underage cup competitions takes place on Wednesday week. This could be a good year for Castlebar who have strong sides at all age groups and hopes are high that we can take some silverware this season. Players will be notified of the draw.

Mini Rugby news

Castlebar Travelled en masse to Sligo on Saturday for a Blitz. 71 players in total travelled and all had a good day. However, it has come to light that there was confusion over the Blitz as some players arrived for training and were not aware of the Blitz. It appears that players were given a handout of the dates for forthcoming Blitzes last week but confusion arose. The Club would like to apologise for this and in future if any player has a doubt about a Blitz they are asked to contact Paul Gannon for Clarification and to read the club notes that are in the Connacht Telegraph, Mayo News and Western People and to listen to Mid West Radio and CRC for changes should any occur. The countdown to the Connacht Blitz that happens in March is now certainly underway and training will continue in the run up for this at the usual time.
