Firsts

It started well for the firsts with a good win over Tuam in week one of the Connacht junior league division one. Castlebar played some enterprising rugby to win by 26 points to 11 after leading 14-6 at half time. This is an ideal start with some tough games coming up and we will need to keep the winning feeling going. The tries coming from Rayno DeKock, Tadgh Kirby, Enda Murphy and Darren Claasen. Paul Coady kicked the rest. The team and replacements that lined out were:

Rayno DeKock, Paddy Durcan, Rory Hughes, Alex Goor, Mike Marsh, Enda Murphy, Ger Prendegast, Mike Campbell, Christy Cusack, Robbie Cusack, Jason Keane, Tadgh Kirby, Paddy Flannelly, Simon O’Malley, Paul Coady.

Subs: Paul Heverin, Darren Claasen and Damien Glackin.

Seconds

The Seconds got their season underway on Wednesday night when they faced Tuam in Cloondeash under lights. This was a tough encounter but with 25 players chomping at the bit to go it was great to see so many players turned out. In the end after a tough encounter the seconds prevailed winning 10-0. Well done to Ivor Gilmartin and the team.
