Firsts

The firsts good run of success continued on Sunday with a solid 42-0 win over UCG, Paddy Flannelly scored two tries with the rest coming from Christy Cusack, Tadgh Kirby, Darren Claasen and Rory Hughes. Paul Coady kicked the conversions. Castlebar now lie top of the table on points scored and face Ballina next Sunday in Creggs Road. Kick off 3pm.

The team were: Rayno DeKock, Paddy Durcan, Kevin Cox, Rory Hughes, Mike March, Enda Murphy, Ger Prendegast, Mike Campbell, Christy Cusack, Tadgh Kirby, Jason Keane, Darren Claasen, Paddy Flannelly, Simon O’Malley, Paul Coady.

Subs: Alan Gavin, Alex Goor.

Seconds

The Seconds got their season underway on Friday night when they faced Westport in Cloondeash under lights. This was a tough encounter but with 25 players chomping at the bit to go it was great to see so many players turned out. In the end Westport came out on top but this was a great team performance and things are looking good for the league.

Ladies

Training continues on Saturday evening at 6pm and the call has gone out to all those interested in playing rugby, getting fit and having fun to come out and be part of the fastest growing game around. Training is at Cloondeash and all are welcome.

Underage

The under 16 team faced Ballina on Wednesday night in a friendly and it was a good work out for all concerned with some good individual performances. However we had to give second best to a strong Ballina team.

The under 14 and under 16 teams continue training this evening (Wednesday). All Players must be at the clubhouse at 7pm with a bus leaving the Courthouse at 6.30. Under 18 training continues on Tuesday and Friday evenings at 7.30 and it is important that all attend as the first game of the season kicks off on Sunday.

Mini rugby.

Mini Rugby Continues on Saturday mornings for all under 8,9,10,11 and 12 teams.
