Firsts

Its three out of three for the firsts after last Sunday when they overcame a tough Ballinrobe side 10-3 thanks to a Paul Coady try, conversion and penalty. This was an important win and puts Castlebar in a strong position at this early stage of the league. Next up is NUIG in Dangan. A win here is vital but the Students will be no pushovers. Game kicks off at 3pm and all support will be vital.

Castlebar: Richard Feeney, Ciaran Flynn, Mike Power, Nigel Byrne, Paddy Flannelly, Paul Coady, Simon O'Malley, Eugene Butterworth, Paddy Durcan, Ruairi Hughes, Alex Goor, Aaron Loudon, Enda Murphy, Tadgh Kirby, Gerard Prendergast.

Replacements: Paul Heverin, Damian Glackin, Alan Gavin

Seconds

The Seconds started their season on Sunday last against Westport and despite some great rugby had to give second best this time to a good Westport team. Castlebar’s try came from Eamon Cafferkey but one of the positives was the young talent that is coming through the ranks. This could be a great season for the lads so please come out and support.

Castlebar: Conor O’Malley, Neil Coyle, Brian Flannery, Chris Rogan, Sheamus Devaney, Sean Hayes, Barry Barnacle, Eamon Cafferkey, Paudie O’Malley, Padraic Healy, Mark Staunton, Chris Jordan, Tom Murphy, Fintan Casey, Ronan Irwin.

Training continues on Saturday next at the clubhouse from 10.30 to 11.45. All players under 8,9,10,11 and 12 are welcome and new players are always welcome. Training times have also changed for this season with training taking place from 10.30 to 11.45. All Parents are asked to make a note of this time.

Underage

Under 14

The league starts for the under 14 team on Saturday week the 14th in castlebar against Ballinrobe kicking off at 12noon. Training continues on Wednesday’s at 7pm and all players must attend with the start of the league so close.

Under 18

The Under 18 team were awarded a walkover on Saturday afternoon against Sligo. It was disappointing considering that all teams are expected to travel and field teams in this qualifier league but Sligo sadly didn’t. Next up is Buccaneers on Sunday next with a kick off time of 2pm. The bus leaves the courthouse at 11.30 sharp. Training continues tonight (Wednesday) at 7.30.

Under 20

The Under 20’s are in action on Saturday in Castlebar with UCG the visitors. Players will be notified of kick off times at training.

Lotto!

The draw was held last Friday night in Morans and we will have full results on this next week. It is important that more players come out and help with the tickets. People respond to the players and it is great PR for the club. So could as many players as possible support the lotto next month.
