Firsts:

The first team produced some of the best rugby played all year when they defeated Westport in the Connacht Junior League on Sunday last. In what was a tight exciting game tries from Mike Campbell and Paul Coady, combined with two conversions from Diarmuid Byrne gave us the edge. While we are still a bit off the top of the table this win was vital and hopefully will be the start for a winning run. The next game for the firsts is on Sunday next when Sligo come to Cloondeash. This is going to be a close run game as Sligo have been a bit of a bogey team in the past. Support is going to be crucial so everyone is asked to get out to Cloondeash on Sunday next. Kick off is at 2.30.

The second team continue their training ahead of the first game of the league in a few weeks time. There are plans for a couple of friendlies to be played in the run up to the league so as many players can get that important match fitness in. training continues on Tuesday and Thursday nights at 7.30 at Cloondeash.

The ladies had a free weekend this weekend and are in full training for their next game in a couple of week’s time. More details on that next week. They are also on the lookout for those who might be able to help during training, matches etc. training continues on Wednesday nights at 7pm.

The Castlebar under 8’s, under 10’s and under 12 teams are in action this weekend in Tuam in the first of the blitzes. This is becoming a very successful time for these teams with training going very well and a large turnout every week. There are some big games ahead but the teams and their coaches are very confident. The bus leaves on Saturday morning at 9.30am and the price for the bus is five euro.

The under 14 and under 16 teams are in action this weekend in a double header in Cloondeash at 12.30. The under 14 team take on Westport while the under 16 team play Tuam. All parents and friends of the players will hopefully come out on Saturday to cheers the lads on.

The under 18 team have made it two wins in a row after they beat Ballyhaunis last weekend. This weekend they have an interesting game against Creggs in Castlebar. The kick off time has to be confirmed but it is likely to be the curtain raiser to the senior game later that afternoon. Coach Mick Tobin will inform the players at training tonight (Wednesday).

Training for the under 14,under16 and under 18 teams continue in Cloondeash at 7pm with the bus leaving the courthouse at 6.30.
