Firsts News

After a week’s rest its back to action for the firsts as they take on Gort under lights in Cloondeash on Saturday evening next. Training has gone well and the team are more determined than ever to get the previous games behind them with a good win.

The firsts also drew Creggs in the first round of the Cawley cup. This game will take place in Cloondeash with a 2.30 kick off on Sunday the 7th of December. Castlebar have bad memories of their last meeting, as Creggs defeated them in the same competition last season. Training continues at the usual time.

Seconds News

The seconds travelled to Creggs on Sunday last for a friendly, but with out players who had already promised to attend and didn’t (apologies from the club PRO). It was a pity that this happened and the team that played showed great spirit and determination against a side that are on the crest of a wave at the moment. The team played incredibly well and was unfortunate to be behind to a converted try at half time. Despite conceding another score the best score of the game came from Paul Harte after an excellent back line move. Despite a good second half performance the team were defeated by 21-5. The Castlebar team that faced Creggs last Sunday were:

Dave flannelly, John Joe Ormsby Matt Connolly, Sheamus Devaney, Barry Barnacale, Ger Prendegast, George O'Malley, Liam Fahy, Ivor Gilmartin, Richard Feeney, Paul Harte, Shane Mc Elwee, Tommy Nolan.

Ladies news

The game between Castlebar and Carrickfergus that was due to take place on Sunday last was postponed so all eyes now are on next Sunday afternoon and their home game against Lisburn. This will be an exciting game with both sides prepared to run the ball and if the weather is at all fine we are in for a great game. Would all players please attend training on Wednesday night, as there are some moves to work out and other arrangements to be made. Training continues on Wednesday night at 7pm.

Mini Rugby

Next Saturday is a very special day for the Mini Rugby sides as they take on Ballina in the first home Blitz of the season. This is going to be an exciting day for all our young players with games at under 8’s, 9’s, 10’s, 11’s and 12’s. All players are asked to be out at the pitch at 10.45am sharp as the games are starting at 11. This is also a great chance for the parents to come out and be part of the club atmosphere and excitement of match day and parents, we can guarantee that you will not be disappointed!

Under 14

Training continues for the under 14 team on Wednesday nights at the usual with a bus leaving the courthouse at 6.30. Their next game takes place on the 6th of December against Creggs.

Under 16

The under 16 team have been playing some sweet rugby of late and the same will be expected on the 30th of November when they take on Dunmore in Dunmore. Training continues on Wednesday night.

Under 18

With a solid determined team, there is a lot expected of this team, and they have delivered to the delight of everybody in the club. They also take to the pitch on the 30th of November when they play Dunmore in Cloondeash. Special congratulations must also go out to Enda Murphy who scored for the Connacht schools against Leinster recently. It was also a great result for Connacht. So well done Enda!

Training continues on Wednesday nights.
