Firsts news

Castlebar RFC first team’s proposed game against Garryowen did not go ahead on Sunday last due to Garryowen’s continued participation in their cup competition. However, all guns are now blazing ahead of their first league game of the season against Loughrea on Sunday next in Cloondeash. Castlebar have shown in the past that they are a team to watch out for and are ready for a good season. Loughrea are a good side and showed that they will not be a pushover by any means so support will be vital. Castlebar have one of the best home supports in the league and it is hoped that everyone can make it out to Cloondeash for this game. Kick off is at 3pm.

Seconds News

The second team are continuing training ahead of their first game of the season that will happen in a few weeks time. The call continues for those who may have played rugby before and would be interested in taking up the game again to come out training on a Tuesday and Thursday night at 7.30pm at Cloondeash.

Ladies News

Castlebar Ladies begin their own season’s training tonight (Wednesday) in Cloondeash. This is truly an exciting time as they prepare for their involvement in the AIL which begins in October with a game against Enniskillen. The date yet to be finalised. All new players are welcome. Players are asked to be out on the pitch at 7pm.

Castlebar RFC Underage News

The waiting is finally over for all underage players as the season begins with the beginning of the mini rugby season. All players at under 8, under 10 and under 12 get underway with training on Saturday morning next at 11am. The bus will leave the courthouse at 10.30am. Cost is two euro and it will return at 12.30.

The following week there is a special day taking place out at the clubhouse with registration of new players, there will be fun and games sponsored by Casey ford dealers with prizes galore. It also gives the mums and dads a chance to have a look around and be part of the day. There will be more details on that next week and players will be informed about it on Saturday.

Under 14,under16 and under 18 training begins on Wednesday night (17 Sep) at Cloondeash at 7.30 with the bus leaving the courthouse at 6.30. After such a good season last season, it is hoped that the teams will do well this time. All new players are welcome.
