Castlebar RFC news

It was not a good day at the office for Castlebar’s first team as they were beaten by Galwegians on Sunday last in Cloondeash. On a day that was not conducive to good rugby with lashing rain and a very strong wind, their scores all came from the boot of Robbie Cusack who kicked three penalties. But a conceded try in the final ten minutes sealed the win for galwegians. Next week they face a very tough encounter when they travel to Monivea. Monivea have been playing some excellent rugby and are currently top of the league, so a good result is very important. Training continues on Tuesday and Thursday nights.

Ladies news

Castlebar’s ladies made history on Sunday evening when they took on Enniskillen in their first AIL game of the season. In what was a very entertaining game in front of an enthusiastic crowd who braved the elements, they gave a good display of rugby but in the end had to be second best to a team that will go places this season in the competition. Special credit must go to the team, as they never gave up especially when things looked bad, and given some more training this Castlebar team will produce some excellent results. Next up for the girls is an away trip to Armagh so a special effort is needed from all in the team. Training as usual on Wednesday nights in Cloondeash.
