Castlebar Swimmers All Out For Christmas Gala

Castlebar Swimming Club held its Annual Christmas Gala for pre-club swimmers on Thursday the 13th December. There was a huge turnout for this very popular event with many young swimmers showing great promise in this, their first competitive event.

At the annual Christmas Party, which was held at Celtic Clubhouse on Friday 14th December, Club Head Coach, Francois Rossi expressed his pleasure at the many successes which the Castlebar swimmers have had during the year. These include maximum participation and success in Graded Galas, many gold, silver and bronze medals in National finals in both relay and individual events and new Connaught records being set. Francois thanked Club Coach Marion English, chairperson Linda McCaffery, the Club Teachers, Assistant teachers and helpers for their endless work and support during the year. Special thanks were also given to Nuala McGowan and the parents committee for their usual high standard of catering. The evening was rounded off with presentation of some very special awards to the following swimmers:

Most Dedicated Swimmer: Ciara McGowan
Junior Swimmer of the Year: James Sweeney
Senior Girls Swimmer of the Year: Laura English
Senior Boy Swimmer of the Year: Cian Holland


A special presentation was also made to Cian in recognition of his new Connaught Junior record in the 100m Butterfly and all his other achievements in what has been a fantastic year for him.
