A total of 39 swimmers from the Castlebar club competed in the Leisureland Cup competition held on 16th March, 2003 in Galway.

A total of 48 different events were swam and included individual and team performances Individual performances were recorded from the following swimmers: Sally Cunniffe, Nicholas Quinn, Annie McCormack, James Sweeney, Emma Hynes, Stephanie Ford, Anthony English, Laura Keaveney, Sarah Caulfield, Colm Garrick, Jill Magee, Cian Holland, Laura English, Darragh Quinn. The Leisureland Cup was played off against teams from Claremorris, Tuam and Galway. The winning team from Galway achieved 254 points and claimed the cup, with Claremorris 2nd on 218 points, Castlebar came in 3rd with 213 points and Tuam 4th with 164 points. Once again the Castlebar swimmers did the club and coaches Francois, Marian, Jackie & Joe proud and provided the supporters with a very exciting evening of competition at its best.

Swimmers from the Castlebar Swimming Club travelled to Ballina to take part in the Connacht Region B & C Gala on Sunday 23rd March 2003. The Gala was hosted by Ballina Dolphins Swimming Club featured both Backstroke , Butterfly and Team relay events , The competion was tough as it catered for clubs from Sligo, Claremorris, Westport, Ballina, Longford and Athlone but the achievements of the Castlebar swimmers showed the results of all the hard training.

In the Team Relay Events – Boys U 13 Freestyle team of – Rory Grier Gavin, Conor Waters, Francis Walsh, James Caulfield took the gold. The Girls U 13 team were not to be outdone and also took gold , well done to Aisling Granahan, Ellen Cahill, Deirdre Walsh, and Juliet Connaughton. Silver medals went to Boys U 11 Freestyle team of Tony Sweeney, Diarmuid Joyce, Rory Tuohy, and Nicholas Quinn The Girls U 11 Freestyle – Katie Costello, Aoife Gavin, Sally Cunniffe and Vicky Staunton took silver also. Well Done to all the young swimmers and Thank You to the good coaching from Jackie Hynes and Joe Moran.
