CASTLEBAR SWIMMING CLUB NEWS

CONNAUGHT AGE GROUP CHAMPIONSHIPS

Swimmers from Castlebar Swimming Club had some excellent performances at the Connaught Age Groups’ meetings over the weekends of May4th and 11th in Leisureland pool, Galway and Claremorris pool respectively with some swimmers achieving qualifying times for Irish Age Groups Division 1 and Division 2.

60 Events were swam and a number of fine performances were returned by Castlebar swimmers, pride of place goes to a very promising young swimmer Sarah Caulfield. Sarah took overall 3r d best swimmer for her age category based on combined results over the two days of swimming.

Division 1 qualifying times were achieved by Natalie Bourke U14 200 IM, James Sweeney U12 100m Br/st and Aisling Bourke in 100m Br/st.

The highlights from the 2 days of competition are as follows

Sarah Caulfield –Gold 14yr 100m Br/st, Bronze 200m IM, 4th100m F/S Final, 5th 100m Fly
Darragh Quinn – Gold Boys 16yr 200m IM, Bronze 100m Freestyle, 4th 100m Fly
Laura Keaveney – Silver 15yr 100m Fly, 5th 100m Freestyle
Natalie Bourke –5th 13yr Girls 100m Backstroke, 5th 100m Br/st, 6tth 100m Fly
Aisling Bourke – Bronze 13yr 100m Br/st, 5th 100m Fly
Brian Moran U16 5th 100m Backstroke
Sarah Wiseman U16 4th 100m Br/St and 6th 100m Backstroke
James Sweeney U12 4th 100m Br/st
Anthony English 15yr 4th 100m Br/st and 6th 100m Freestyle/

Patrick Wiseman U14 5th 100m Freestyle
Eleanor Grier Gavin – U 15 4th Girls 100m Br/st, 6th 100m Freestyle
