Connacht Age Groups

Four swimmers from Castlebar Swimming Club were among the “overall swimmer” awards in their respective age groups at the Connacht Age Groups Championships which were held in Tuam (12-05-02) and Claremorris (19-05-02).

The four were:
Darragh Quinn – 2nd overall swimmer, Age 15
Shenagh O’Byrne - 2nd overall swimmer, Age 11/12
Laura Keaveney - 2nd overall swimmer, Age 14
Jill Magee - 3rd overall swimmer, Age 16

Darragh had a wonderful 2 days of swimming during which he took GOLD in the 100m Breaststroke, SILVER in the 100m Freestyle, 100m Butterfly and 200m Individual Medley and was reserve finalist in the 100m Backstroke.

Shenagh received her award having clocked up points for GOLD in the 100m Butterfly, SILVER in the 100m Freestyle, BRONZE in the 200m Individual Medley, 4th in the 200m Breaststroke and was reserve finalist in the 100m Backstroke.

Laura had an equally impressive set of results including; GOLD in the 100m Butterfly, BRONZE in the 100m Freestyle , BRONZE in the 200m Individual Medley and 5th in the 100m Breaststroke.

Jill took GOLD in the 200m Individual Medley, BRONZE in the 100m Freestyle and the 100m Butterfly, 4th in the 100m Breaststroke and 5th in the 100m Backstroke.

Sarah Wiseman, Age 15 - 2nd 100m Butterfly
4th 200m Individual Medley
4th 100m Freestyle
4th 100m Breaststroke.

Anthony English, Age 14 - 4th 100m Breaststroke
5th 100m Backstroke
5th 200m Individual Medley

Michael Walls, Age 16 - 5th 200m Individual Medley
5th 100m Breaststroke
5th 100m Butterfly

Ciara McGowan, Age 16 - 5th 200m Individual Medley
5th 100m Butterfly

Conal Joyce, Age 12 - 5th 100m Freestyle
5th 100m Butterfly

Natalie Bourke, Age 12 - 3rd 100m Breaststroke

Katie Tuohy, Age 12 - 5th 100m Breaststroke

Zoe Davis, Age 14 - 5th 100m Freestyle

Eleanor Grier-Gavin, Age 13 - 5th 100m Breaststroke

James Sweeney, Age 12 - 5th 100m Breaststroke

Since they have achieved recessary qualifying times, the following swimmers have qualified for the Irish Age Groups ( Division 1):
Darragh Quinn, Jill Magee, Laura Keaveney, Zoe Davis and Shenagh O’Byrne.

The following swimmers have achieved qualifying times for the Irish Age Groups (Division 2):
Brian Moram, Anthony English, Sarah Wiseman, Patrick Wiseman, Conal Joyce, Natalie Bourke, Katie Tuohy, Ciara McGowan, Avril Egan Eleanor Grier-Gavin and Sarah Caulfield.
