Fourteen Castlebar Swimmers Qualify

FOURTEEN Castlebar swimmers have qualified for the All-Ireland minor schools championships held in Dublin on 12th and 13th November.
The qualifiers emerged with gold, silver and bronze from the Connacht Minor Schools Championships which were held in Claremorris on 17th October last.
The following are the results with medals won in brackets.
Girls Under 9: Louise Dervan, Breaffy NS Breaststroke (Silver).
Eleanor Thornton, Snugboro NS qualified for Backstroke.
Boys Under 10: Conor Tuohy, Snugboro NS qualified for Backstroke and Freestyle. Patrick Sweeney, Scoil Raifteiri qualified for Breaststroke.
Killian Dervan, Breaffy NS Breaststroke (Gold) + Backstroke (Bronze).
Boys Under 11: Conor O’Malley, Carrowkennedy NS Butterfly (Gold) and qualified for Freestyle.
Girls Under 11: Deirdre McGauran, St. Angela’s qualified for Freestyle and Breaststroke. Sally Cunniffe, St. Angela’s Freestyle (Gold) and 100m Individual Medley (Gold).
Boys Under 12: Nicholas Quinn, Scoil Raifteiri Butterfly (Gold) and Breaststroke (Silver).
Girls Under 12: Aoife Gavin, St. Angela’s qualified for Breaststroke.
Relays:
Breaffy Boys Under 10 took 1st place in the Medley Team Relay and 3rd place in the Freestyle Team Relay. Team members were Killian Dervan, Cian Morrin, Daire Morrin and Michael Hall.
St. Angela’s Girls Under 12 took 3rd place in the Freestyle Team Relay with team members Sally Cunniffe, Caitriona Walsh, Aoife Gavin and Deirdre McGauran.
