Irish Age Group Championships Div 2 Limerick

Sarah Wiseman and Nicholas Quinn from Castlebar Swimming Club excelled at the Irish Age Groups Championships Division 2 which were held in Limerick from 26th June-28th June., both these swimmers were awarded 2nd overall in their age groups ,this is a big achievement as the competition is tough with 50 clubs from around the country competing

Sarah trained all year for this prestigious meet and showed style and class as she scooped a gold medal in 100m Fly (17-24 year olds) followed by Silver in 100m Freestyle, 200m IM and 200m Freestyle with a Bronze medal in 100m Backstroke and a certificate for 4th place in 100m Breaststroke.

Nicholas Quinn competing out of age in the U 12 category had a brilliant weekend taking 2 Silver medals in 100m Breaststroke and 100m Fly respectively with a Bronze medal in 200m IM. Nicholas finished his 100m Breaststroke swim in 1 30 02 which earned him a Division 1qualifying time.

Silver medallists included Brian Moran swimming 100m Backstroke, Anthony English 100m fly and Patrick Wiseman 200m IM with a Bronze medal to James Caulfield in the 200m IM.

Emma Hynes 4th 100m Freestyle, 8th 200m Freestyle
James Caulfield 8th 100m Fly, 6th 100m Freestyle
Brian Moran 7th 200m IM, 5th 100m Breaststroke
Katie Tuohy 7th 200m IM, 100m Backstroke
Stephanie Ford 7th 100m Breaststroke
Anthony English 5th 200m IM

Rory Grier Gavin had some great swims making personal best times in his 200m Freestyle, 200m IM, 100m Backstroke and 100m Breaststroke
Another swimmer to hold her place and do her Junior Certificate was Elaine Joyce with a personal best time in 100m Breaststroke and 200m IM.

One of the best swims of the weekend was produced by Emma Hynes in the 100m Freestyle where she qualified for the final in a time of 1 09 39, she then went on to swim the final and finished in 4th place in a superb time of 1 07 76 missing her Division 1 qualifying time by only 76 splits

Girls U 14 medley relay team of Katie Tuohy, Sally Cunniffe, Stephanie Ford and Emma Hynes.

finished in 2nd place and were just pipped out of a gold medal by Aer Lingus

The weekend was hugely successful for the Castlebar swimmers and coaches and congratulations all around.
