Darragh Quinn from Castlebar Swimming Club was in sparkling form at the Irish Age Groups Championships which were held at Ennis Pool from 11th – 14th of July.

Darragh’s best performance was in the 100m breastroke event U/15.He produced a spectacular swim in the heats of his event to reach the final. Here he produced a personal best time and in a nail biting finish took the silver medal.

Darragh also had personal best times in the 100m frontcrawl.100m backcrawl.100m fly, and in 200m individual medley, in what was a fantastic weekend all round for him

Shenagh O’Byrne competing out of age in the U/12 category had a wonderful swim and a personal best time in the heats of the 100, fly event. She qualified for the final in this event where she came 4th. Shenagh also produced personal best times in the 100m backcrawl, 200m I.M, and in the 400m frontcrawl.

Laura Keveaney did personal best times in the 100m breastroke and 100m backcrawl.
She was reserve finalist in the 100m fly after a fine swim in the heats.

Jill Magee did personal best times in the 200m I.M and in the 100m breastroke and Zoe Davis did a personal best time in the 100m breastroke

Girls U/14 freestyle team consisting of Zoe Davis.Shenagh O’Byrne, Avril Egan and Laura Keveaney were in finalists in the 4x50 freestyle event.

The swimmers did themselves and their club proud. Good luck to everyone competing at the Nationals this weekend!!
