Success for Mayo swimmers

13 Young swimmers from the Castlebar club travelled to the Trinity Pool Donaghmede on Friday 15th and Sat 16th November to represent their schools at national level and once again did the club and coaches proud by bringing home the medals and personal best times.
James Sweeney (Scoil Raifteiri) was in absolutely brilliant form as he took a silver medal in U-11 50 m Breaststroke and a bronze medal in the U-11 Freestyle.
Sally Cunniffe (St Angela's) swam the race of her life to take silver in U-9 50 M Breaststroke and also reached the final in U-9 50 m Freestyle to take 5th place.
Nicholas Quinn (Scoil Raifteiri) swimming for the first time at the national schools competition was in top form and took a bronze medal in U-10 50 M Butterfly and swam a personal best time in U-10 Breaststroke.
Deirdre Walsh, Aisling Granahan, Emma Hynes and Stephanie Ford represented St. Angela's N.S. Castlebar in both the U-12 200 M medley relay and freestyle relay and reached the finals in the Freestyle Relay and did the school and club proud by taking 4th place in a nail-biting finish.
Tony Sweeney (Scoil Raifteiri) had a fine swim in U-10 M Breaststroke and achieved a personal best time.
Annie McCormack (St Paul's, Islandeady) competing for the first time at this national event had a fine swim in U-11 50 M Freestyle.
Natalie Bourke (St.John's, Breaffy) produced a personal best time in U-12 100 M, I M, and U-12 50 M Breaststroke as did Aisling Bourke in U-12 50 M Butterfly and 50 M Breaststroke.
Aisling Granahan (St Angela's) had a good swim in U-12 50M Backstroke and Stephanie Ford (St Angela's) was in flying form in U-12 50 M Breaststroke as was Emma Hynes also St Angela's in top form as she achieved another personal best time in U-12 50 M Freestyle.
Fionnuala Quinn swimming for Scoil Raifteiri did the school proud by achieving personal best times in both the U-12 50 M Butterfly and 50 M Breaststroke.
Conal Joyce (C.B.S. Westport) had tough competition in the boys U-12 50M Butterfly and Freestyle and showed his mettle.
