Castlebar was the venue for the recent graded B and C gala and it proved to be a very successful day for the clubs emerging young swimmers.

In the girls under 11 backstroke there were A certificates awarded to Siofra Horan Edel Egan Nicola Connelly Paula McDonagh and Siofra McHale who all achieved the A time of 1.36. In the C section there was a gold medal for Niamh Breslin.

Niamh Heneghan achieved her A time in the girls under 13 backstroke.

The boys under 11 backstroke didn't produce any A times for Castlebar but there were some excellent swims with Jamie Murphy and Cian Diedrichs taking the gold and bronze medals in the B section. In the C section there was a gold for Jamie Veigas and a bronze for James English.

The next event was the 100 meter individual medley and the girls in the under 11 section again produced some tremendous results. There were A times for Paula McDonagh Edel Egan Nicola Conway and Siofra McHale.

In the B section Clodagh Healy took the bronze medal and in the C section there was gold for Hannah Grady silver for Heather Fadden and bronze for Niamh Breslin. Niamh Heneghan had another impressive swim to claim her A time in the girls under 13 category and in the B section Megan Coen took the bronze medal. In the under 11 boys 100 meter Individual medley Jamie Murphy had an excellent swim to secure his A time.

Ronan Dervan was extremely unlucky to just miss his A time by less than a second. He did however take the gold medal in the B section where Jamie Veigas took the silver and Cian Deidrichs took the bronze.

The penultimate event was the 200 meter freestyle and the under 11 girls again turned in an excellent display. It was a 123 for Castlebar with Paula McDonagh taking the gold Siofra Horan silver and Edel Egan the bronze.

At under 13 there was gold for Niamh Heheghan and silver for Megan Coen. Also swimming for Castlebar were Kianna Higgins and Sarah Bourke .

Finally the relays were as exciting as usual with the girls team of Siofra Horan, Edel Egan, Nicola Connelly and Paula McDonagh taking the gold in fine style.

The boys team of Ronan Dervan, Cian Deidrichs, Jamie Viegas and Jamie Murphy swam really well but were just pipped by the team from Sligo into second place.

Well done to all who competed on the day and a big thank you to everyone who helped out at the gala.
