More Medals for Castlebar B&C Swimmers in Ballina

A number of Swimmers from the Castlebar Swimming Club travelled to Ballina on Sunday 14th March where the Connacht Region, Northern Area, B&C gala was held.
Castlebar swimmers were there in strength as always and had great success in all age groups in the featured strokes, Backstroke & Breaststroke and were particularly impressive in the Backstroke where 3 ‘A’ Certs were achieved, in the “B” Category a total of 3 Gold, 6 Silver and 4 Bronze were won and in the “C” Category 5 Gold, 3 Silver and 2 Bronze were won.
In the relay events 2 teams took Gold, 1 Silver and 1 Bronze.

In the relay events the U11 Boys, Diarmaid Joyce, Tony Sweeney, Patrick Sweeney and Conor O’Malley took Gold.
The U15 Girls, Elaine Joyce, Meabh Garrick, Deirdre Walsh and Juliet Connaughton also took Gold.
The U11 Girls, Deirdre McGauran, Julia McCormack, Aoife Gavin, Telissa Walsh took Silver.
The U13 Girls, Katie Costelloe, Vicki Stanton, Triona Ni Dhomhnaill, Deborah Brennan took Bronze.

These excellent results are fully deserved, and as always, reflect the huge effort made by the swimmers and their trainers.
