The first B&C gala of the new season was held at Castlebar pool on Sunday 2nd Nov. Clubs from the Connaught region ‘Northern Area’ which includes Claremorris, Ballina, Sligo, Westport and Castlebar were represented in this gala featuring Freestyle and Butterfly.

In top form for the Castlebar club were Sally Cunniffe who achieved an A time in 100m F/s U11 and Rory Tuohy who also achieved an A time in 100m F/s U11. Both swimmers can now compete at top level galas in Connaught

Results B Category

Gold
Meabh Garrick scooped two gold medals in U15 100m F/s and 100m Fly just narrowly missing her A times. The girls U11 F/s relay team of Sally Cunniffe, Katie Costello, Aoife Gavin and Vicki Staunton also took gold as did the Boys U13 relay team of Francis Walsh, Rory Tuohy, Conor Waters and Rory Grier -Gavin.

Silver
Silver medal winners included Juliet Connaughton in U13 F/s and Elaine Joyce U15 F/s also the Girls relay teamU13 of Ita Heneghan, Juliet Connaughton, Deirdre Walsh and Deborah Brennan.

Bronze
Bronze in this category were awarded to Katie Costello U11 F/s and Rory Grier Gavin U13 F/s

Bronze also went to Boys U13 freestyle relay team of Diarmaid Joyce, Tony Sweeney, Patrick Sweeney and Rory Tuohy.


Other swimmers to compete included Killian Dervan, Conor O’Malley, Deirdre McGuran, Tríona Ní Dhomhnaill, Laura Breslin, and Brian McDonagh
