Black and White Ball 10 October

With just 10 days left to The Black and White Ball, Castlebar Chamber is delighted to report that tickets are selling very well for the event, which is being held in support of Cancer Action Mhaigh Eo. The Black and White Ball is an opportunity for the business people of Castlebar and their friends to enjoy a great evening’s entertainment while supporting a local charity. Cancer Action Mhaigh Eo is an organisation, which aims to raise funds to purchase a Sentinel Lymph Mapping Device- a vital piece of equipment for use in the treatment of patients with Breast Cancer in Mayo General Hospital.

The Black and White Ball will take place in the Welcome Inn Hotel on Friday October 10th at 8pm. The evening will commence with an Irish Coffee reception followed by a four course gala dinner. Well-known band Ice on Fire will provide the music for the evening and there will also be a late disco. The guest of honour will be Mr. Liam Scollan, CEO Knock International Airport.

Castlebar Chamber of Commerce would like to thank all the businesses that are providing sponsorship for the evening. For the first time, The Mayo Chamber of commerce is organising the Mayo Business Awards to recognise the efforts of businesses and to promote excellence in the quality of their services and customer care. The Mayo Chamber of Commerce incorporates all the Chambers of Commerce in Mayo including Castlebar, Claremorris, Erris, Swinford, Ballyhaunis, Ballina and Westport.

The Mayo Business Awards are open to over 2,5000 businesses, both big and small in County Mayo whether in the retail, manufacturing, services or tourism/leisure sectors.

There are ten awards to be won: Best Commercial Premises Award, Best New Business Award, Business Growth Award, Best Retail Premises Award, Customer Service Awards- Retail, Commercial and Tourism/Leisure Sectors, Environment Award, Innovation in eBusiness Award and Innovation in Marketing Award.

External adjudicators will be employed to carry out judging in all award categories. Three entrants will be short listed under each award to go forward to the finals. The winners will be announced at a prestigious black tie Gala Awards Evening in the Downhill Hotel, Ballina on Friday November 28th, hosted by Teresa O’Malley.
