27, Apr 2006 - 17:06

The TF Royal Theatre, Castlebar have just announced their exciting, fresh line-up for the first ever Budweiser “Big Mix ‘06” Weekend! With an eclectic line-up that includes cumbia, comedy and a touch of criminality… it’s one May Bank Holiday weekend you won’t forget!

Kicking off the weekend on Thursday 27th April is Curtis Stigers and his band, known for years as a pleasing pop crooner and adequate sax player. Having reached new heights as a legitimate jazz interpreter and increasingly effective tenorist , his show will include songs from his latest release, I Think It's Going to Rain Today, as well as a new collection of songs by some of the greatest and most influential songwriters of our time.

On Friday 28th April, the Fun Lovin’ Criminals – the ultimate Kings of Cool – perform live in concert with their refreshing, unique and thoroughly brilliant sounds that have earned them hit after hit over the last decade. Don’t miss their combination of hip-hop, jazz rhythms and rock techniques that set their music aside from any other band to date.

Deirdre O’Kane is probably one of Ireland’s best stand-up comics, having gigged at most of the major comedy festivals in Ireland and across the globe. Not a stranger to stage or TV either, it’s her instantly charismatic presence and brand of day-to-day anarchism that makes her such a huge hit with audiences near and far. Don’t miss her on Saturday 29th April.

Also on the 29th, QT nightclub will host Colombian salsa band “ Sexteto Café” – a vibrant performance of everything from Salsa, to Cumbia to Latin jazz! Reworking the classics into new and powerful arrangements, it’s music that’ll get your hips moving and your soul soaring!

And to top the weekend off, don’t miss the Man with the Golden trumpet, Kenny Ball and his Jazzmen on Sunday 30th April. Look forward to being delighted by over two and a half hours of Dixieland Jazz presented in a fun-loving manner that has made Kenny Ball a giant of the music industry. His style of music and 15 hit records has made him the most successful and longest lasting chart success of any jazz group in the World, including his first chart success ‘Samantha’ and his last chart success ‘When I’m 64’.

So don’t miss out on the Budweiser Big Mix 06 weekend, you simply can’t go wrong! Tickets for all of these shows may bought from the Box Office 0818 300000, online www.royaltheatre.ie and all usual outlets.
