Talk on Anxiety

Calvary Church Castlebar announces an evening on the topic of anxiety. It will take place in Macalla Hall, Lough Lannagh Holiday Village, Castlebar, on Friday 18th November at 8pm. The speaker will be Dr. Carol Watson, a qualified doctor who works with HSE mental health services in Cavan. There is no charge for the event.

Anxiety disorders are a common mental health problem affecting people in Ireland. There are no accurate figures detailing how common anxiety disorders are in Ireland, but it is estimated that 1 in 9 individuals will suffer a primary anxiety disorder over their lifetime [1]. It also seems that many people with anxiety struggle on without looking for help, diagnosis or treatment. So Calvary Church Castlebar are putting on this event to give people information and a chance to think about anxiety. They would love to bring people hope in the face of anxiety and life's problems.

Dr. Carol Watson spoke at a Christian Women's Convention in Castlebar earlier this year. She impressed the ladies there with her down-to-earth talks about mental health. She explained things clearly from her medical knowledge and experience. Carol is a Christian and spoke in her talks of the hope that faith in Christ can give to those struggling with mental health.

Given the warm reception Carol received, she has been invited back to speak again. This time she will focus on the topic of "Anxiety." Carol will start by talking about with anxiety from a medical perspective, and go on to explain what the Bible has to say about anxiety. She will talk for around 45 minutes and will be available for questions afterwards over a cup of tea. The event is free of charge and everyone is welcome.
