A joint venture between Mayo PCCC, HSE West, Mayo General Hospital, CroĆ, and Diabetes Ireland will see the month of November designated as Mayo Diabetes Awareness Month. This month-long campaign aims to raise awareness about diabetes and to communicate the importance of diabetes prevention and management.

A number of free public information events will take place during November.

Two public talks entitled Diabetes: What is it and how to prevent it? will be held on Thursday 6th November in the Harlequin Hotel, Castlebar at 7pm and on Thursday 13th November in the Twin Trees Hotel (formerly Downhill Hotel), Ballina at 7pm. The guest speakers will include Dr. Elizabeth Brosnan, Consultant Endocrinologist, and Nurse Specialists from the Diabetes Team in Mayo General Hospital. Admission is free and all are welcome.

In conjunction with these public talks, Mayo General Hospital will host a public information day to mark World Diabetes Day. This event will take place in the main foyer of Mayo General Hospital on Friday 14th November from 10am to 4pm.
