Taoiseach Enda Kenny to host a Public Information Event on Bereavement and the "Think Ahead" Project

Taoiseach Enda Kenny, TD, will host an open public information event organised in conjunction with the Mayo Roscommon Hospice Foundation, the Family Centre based in Castlebar, the Irish Hospice Foundation, and the Forum on End of Life in Ireland. The purpose of Think Ahead is to guide members of the public in discussing and recording their preferences in the event of emergency, serious illness or death. In turn, a public information event will take place on the afternoon of Monday, 1st December 2014, between 4:00pm and 7:00pm. It will take place in St. Mary's Hall of the GMIT Mayo Campus, Old Westport Road, Castlebar, Co. Mayo.

The Taoiseach said: "This promises to be a very informative event on what is often a very sensitive subject, but it is something we should take some time to discuss and encourage yourselves to "Think Ahead". The afternoon will begin at 4:00pm when you will have the opportunity to view information stands and have a chat with your community support groups. At 4:30pm, there will be a talk on Living with Loss and Bereavement by the local support services; namely, Cathal Kearney, Director of the Family Centre, Chapel Street, Castlebar, and Mary Marsden, Mayo Specialist Palliative Care Home Care Team. This will be followed at 5:30pm with a presentation by Dr. Brendan O'Shea and Sarah Murphy on the "Think Ahead" project - an invaluable guide which encourages all people to plan their future care, financial and legal affairs."
