Embrace FARM to host AGM in Portlaoise on Thursday, December 11th

Embrace Farm will host its inaugural Annual General Meeting on Thursday 11th December in the Maldron Hotel, in Portlaoise at 8pm.

Embrace farm safety was founded by Brain and Norma Rohan following the tragic death of Brian's father on their family farm. The main objective of Embrace is to
support families who have lost a loved one in similar circumstances and to create awareness of the risks that farmers and their families are exposed to on a daily basis.

Said Brian, "We started out this year with a goal to create a Remembrance Service for families and get supports enhanced for farm families affected by tragic accidents. We delivered on both fronts as we had a really memorable gathering in June in Abbeyleix for that service and, in September, Minister Coveney appointed a liaison officer in the Department to provide a support service to families who have suffered sudden tragedies and face subsequent challenges in their dealings with issues surrounding ownership, entitlements, scheme applications, succession and inheritance etc.

"We have also now embarked on a farm safety campaign with our ‘What's Left Behind' video series initiative, which would not be possible without the support of the ABP group, so it's been a busy year that has shown the need for an organisation like Embrace FARM.

"Our AGM will seek to tap into the huge groundswell of support that we have had this year so that we can work towards developing and implementing a strategy that will help support families who suffer through farm accidents and minimise those accidents at the same time."
