Friends of the Peace Park

The Mayo Peace Park and Garden of Remembrance erected in Castlebar was officially opened by Uachtaran na hÉireann in October 2008. Since the official opening, additional names have been inscribed on extra memorials as well the placing of a number of dedicated seats. Future work will include future inscriptions, web site upgrade, extra CCTV cameras and lighting as well as educational requirements for tourists and visitors etc. In order to continue this work the committee is extending an invitation to become a Friend of the Peace Park. Because of the success of the Peace Park both at home and abroad it is hoped to continue the concept of ‘an eye on the past to learn of its mistakes with an eye to the future not to repeat them’.
