Continuing staff from Mayo General Hospital supporting Friends of Londiani (Ireland) in its remarkable work in Kenyan communities, Labour Ward Midwife Mary Jo Regan (Claremorris) will be presenting a €5,654.00 fund raising cheque to Mayo General Hospital Obstetric/Gynaecology Consultant and Friends of Londiani Board member Dr Meabh Ni Bhuinneain at 8pm on Saturday night 30th June at Rockys, Linenhall Street, Castlebar.

This is not merely a handing over of a cheque but a celebration of Mary Jo's remarkable achievement of losing a sponsored 35lbs for charity over 18 weeks despite working long hours, power-walking in atrocious weather & surviving all the temptations of Christmas.

Mary Jo will be travelling to Kenya in November where her skills will be added to the many other Mayo General Hospital staff members who have travelled there on their own time, where in many areas maternal mortality can be as high as one in seven women. Mary Jo is very grateful for all the support she received during her weight loss program as well as to those who sponsored her fund raising effort & would like to invite all involved on the night.
