Mighty Mayo Mountain Challenge 2009The Mighty Mayo Mountain Challenge 2009 will take place on Saturday August 22nd 2009.  On that day we will climb Mayo's highest 3 Peaks - Mweelrea (814m), Croagh Patrick (764m) and Nephin (806m) - all in ONE day.  The Challenge will raise funds for Cancer Action Mayo.  

We are looking for Volunteers to participate in the climb on the 22nd August and also Volunteers to act as support crew and medical teams (Physios and trained first aiders).

Nephin

This will be a physically and mentally demanding challenge so it is important that participants in the climb have a good level of fitness and have completed some hill/mountain climbing in the course of their training.  If you start training now you will be ready for the Challenge come August 22nd.  We also intend to run group training sessions in the run up to the event.  This training will be done over a series of weekends and the intention is to use the three peaks for the training (one peak per session).  This will allow people to get in some mountain/hill climbing training and also give everyone a chance to become familiar with the mountains.  More information will be provided to those who register for the Challenge.
