Celebrity Chef Clodagh McKenna.
One of Ireland's favourite celebrity chefs, Clodagh McKenna, is the latest celebrity to support breast cancer research charity, Mayo Pink Ribbon. Clodagh will give a cookery demonstration on Wednesday 30th October in Horkans Garden Centre, Turlough, Castlebar. Ticket numbers are limited so make sure to book yours soon.

This will be a very special night MC'd by none other than Tommy Marren of Midwest Radio. It starts in style with a mulled wine and canapés reception before Clodagh's demonstration of some of her fabulous Christmas recipes. This will be followed by a Q&A session with Clodagh and everyone will go home with a handout of the recipes. We can expect great things in Mayo homes this Christmastime!

Pink Ribbon raised over €100K
The main fundraising events for Mayo Pink Ribbon during the summer are the cycle sportive on the May Bank Holiday Saturday, the Mayo Pink Ribbon Golf Classic,  the Ladies Mini Marathon, and Willie Joe Padden’s barbeque. The incredible total so far is €101,300.83 and money is still coming in. Lourda McHugh, of the fundraising committee expressed their thanks for everyone who was involved, "We'd like to thank everyone for their generosity and kindness - the sponsors, the helpers and of course the cyclists. It seemed like the entire county got involved, decorating towns and villages with pink, manning registration and water stations, shaking buckets (and putting money in buckets) and offering welcome support to the cyclists. We are so grateful to everyone, we couldn't do this without their enthusiasm and encouragement".

Given the current climate this is yet again an extraordinary result and shows just how close this cause is to so many hearts. This money will have a significant impact on the work being done by researchers at the National Breast Cancer Research Institute in Galway and you can be utterly confident that every penny donated will meet an essential need in the fight against breast cancer.

Mayo Pink Ribbon are already beginning to plan for next year’s cycle and ask everyone to put the Bank Holiday Saturday May 3rd in their diary. Volunteers are always needed and always welcome.
