Road Safety
World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims
By Noel Gibbons
12, Nov 2016 - 09:36

On SUNDAY 20th November we will see a day of remembrance being held for road collision victims across Ireland.

There are, sadly, more families grieving this year than the same period last year as already 161 people have died due to incidents on our roads in 2016. To mark the remembrance day, the Road Safety Authority (RSA), local authorities, members of An Garda Síochána and the emergency services are joining forces to urge people to consider their behaviour on the roads as a mark of respect to those who have lost their lives. A number of events will take place throughout the country to remember those who have died or been seriously injured on the roads, as well as their families and friends.

Mayo: A service will take place at Knock Shrine in Mayo at 12pm on Sunday 13 Nov to remember those who were injured or lost their lives in road collisions and to recognise the work carried out by the emergency services, after the service all are invited for refreshments and an opportunity to mix in the rest and care centre in knock and if they don't make the service they are still welcome to meet people who also have been effected by road trauma.
