InTime Media, a company based in the Innovation in Business Centre (IiBC) at GMIT Castlebar, was recently awarded funding for an Innovation Partnership from Enterprise Ireland.

The purpose of the Innovation Partnership Programme is to enable research projects through collaboration with 3rd Level Institutions such as GMIT Castlebar. This results in mutually beneficial co-operation and interaction in new product and process development for companies such as InTime Media.

This research programme which is a first for GMIT Castlebar will assist InTime Media in the development of its mobile phone technology by enabling a Post Graduate Researcher and a Research Officer to work for the research team under the supervision of GMIT.

Julian Ellison, managing director of InTime Media is delighted to be establishing close links with GMIT. "Since we moved into the Innovation Centre last year, we have already expanded into a larger office and started building up our technical team on the back of on-going developments with the BBC. We’re doing some cutting edge stuff with mobile phones that no one else has tried before. The GMIT personnel who join us will contribute significantly to our securing a technical and commercial lead in our field of interactive broadcasting. It’s a major boost for our aspiration to see Castlebar developing an international reputation as a centre for mobile technology innovation."
