2013 All-Island Permaculture Gathering

This year's All-Island Permaculture Gathering will take place in Claregalway, Co. Galway from 13th-15th September. A gathering in the spirit of permaculture ethics or earthcare, people care, fair share.

Permaculture was originally a joining of the words "permanent" and "agriculture" with the focus on creating a sustainable interaction with the land. It has now become hipper and more of a lifestyle approach with far reaching influences into all areas of life, not just agriculture.

The gathering promises to be a weekend of practical workshops & demos, discussion & debate, expertise & ideas, along with all the magic that happens in the spaces inbetween; music, dance, food, fire, craic, connection & more....!

We have an alcohol free ethos. There is camping onsite, we use compost toilets & collect rainwater. We'll have a communal kitchen & a cafe stocked with local food.

The Permaculture Gathering is a self organizing event, where we create the content of the weekend together by sharing our passions. Everyone is a volunteer and everyone who comes participates. Perhaps you have a workshop, talk or demo to offer, maybe you'd like to host a discussion, share your project, or your inspiring dream...

Last year participants described the gathering as a space for "meeting old & new friends, creating positive solutions, inspiration, learning about permaculture and sustainable living, strengthening the network in Ireland, finding out about projects, finding encouragement & support, celebration & joy!"

In the past two years that the gathering's been running we've experienced everything from alternative economies, to earth building, african drumming to agroforestry, basketry to biodeisel, wormeries to rocket stoves, plant identification, urban permaculture, household hints, creating co ops, & so so much more!

Collectively we take responsibility for the safe & efficient running of the weekend, so on arrival you can join a 'working group' and dedicate a little time to keeping things on track in the kitchen, welcome & info area, toilets, etc.

This year we have found a home at the lovely, creative & welcoming Parvani Hall, near Claregalway, where we hope to bring energy, skills & enthusiasm to a great project. Parvani is easily accessible by car & bus. Directions & more info about the site can be found on the website www.parvanihall.ie

If you'd like to be involved in this years gathering please do get in touch! Email parvanihall@gmail.com . We will be delighted to hear from you. You can also request to be added to our mailing list by contacting the above address.

Tickets after 1st July are €40 for the weekend.
Day pass: €15
